Daily Announcements

Dear Parents,

We live in a world surrounded by technology. We know that whatever field our students choose to pursue, their ability to succeed will increasingly hinge on understanding how technology works. However, only a tiny fraction of us are learning computer science, and fewer students are studying it than a decade ago.

That’s why the Uniondale School District is joining in on the largest learning event in history,The Hour of Code, during Computer Science Education Week (Dec. 8-14). Last year, 15 million students tried computer science in one week. This year, we're joining students worldwide to reach 100 million students!

Uniondale is introducing and teaching these foundational 21st century skills.  We are.planning an exciting week of code activities to promote the national program during the week of December 8.  A team of experts from Codescholarly will be coming to the elementary and middle schools to provide students with exposure to coding. Programming activities will take place in all high school math classes.

See http://hourofcode.com/us for more information.

From the Principal

'Backpack'

I carry with me the tools of learning in my 'backpack'-my pencil, my crayons, my notebook, maybe my feelings toward school, or my snack. I am a special person with a variety of ability. Will you notice me this year? Will you guide me, will you be there for me? Will I remember you for the rest of my life and tell my children how you inspired me? Will you accept me for who I am and teach me regardless of my situation, or skills? Maybe you can even learn to love me...because you know I will love you in spite of myself...remember, I will try, if you try with me, I will learn, if you learn with me......and we will both be better for it.......and I thank you!
