Superintendent’s brief - October 2024 “Each day offers a fresh chance to create meaning, purpose and joy.” Dr. Monique Darrisaw-Akil As our scholars are entering the second month of school they are settling into routines and creating the habits that will carry them throughout the year. It is important that we continue to foster the joy and excitement of the first day of school by maintaining a positive attitude, being prepared for school both physically and emotionally and challenging ourselves to keep going in the face of a challenge. It is the habits that we practice every day that will determine our degree of success. I encourage families to take some time and review your child’s habits and set a goal to practice one new positive school habit this month.

Hello Lawrence Road Family, This Thursday and Friday, we will not have classes at Lawrence Road in recognition of Rosh Hashanah. Rosh Hashanah is a Jewish holiday that celebrates the beginning of the Jewish New Year. It's a time for reflection, prayer and asking for forgiveness. It is also a time to make a fresh start. Rosh Hashanah is celebrated with festive gatherings, sweet foods and the sounding of the shofar; a ram's horn. Rosh Hashanah connects children and families to their ancestors who celebrated the holiday centuries ago. Happy Rosh Hashanah to our staff, students and families of the Jewish faith. U-STRONG!
